1. Start with a Deep Dusting (The “Grit” Phase)

Before you even think about liquids, you must remove the abrasive particles that act like sandpaper on your floor’s finish.

• The Right Tool: Use a soft-bristled broom or, better yet, a vacuum with a hard-floor setting.
• The Warning: Never use a vacuum with a “beater bar” or power head engaged, as the stiff bristles can leave micro-scratches on your Mercier or hardwood finish.
• Don’t Forget the Nooks: Pay extra attention to the gaps between planks and along baseboards where winter salt loves to hide.

2. Choose the Right Cleaner (Skip the DIY Hacks)
